It’s not easy to change the world. Working for democratic values, including human rights, freedom of expression, and freedom of association, is a long-term project that requires great courage, creativity, and commitment. Those most frustrated by the status quo are often young people eager to engage in the struggle to achieve societies that provide opportunity for all, protect the rights of all, and make governments accountable to citizens.
For 30 years, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) has been privileged to support the work of thousands of activists who seek a democratic future in more than 100 countries. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, NED presents “30 under 30,” a special feature highlighting the stories of 30 inspiring democrats, all aged 30 or younger.
Over half of the world’s population is under the age of 30, those who will define the progress of democracy in the 21st century. NED will be there to support and stand with them.
